TEAM

MELISSA WEISEL, MSW, LCSW, MSM PH-PP

Owner, Clinical Director, Therapist

I'm a licensed clinical social worker and psychotherapist with over fourteen years of experience. I approach therapy as a collaborative venture and welcome feedback to guide treatment. I often use the evidence-based practices of CBT, DBT, ACT, positive psychology, mindfulness-based stress reduction, as well as somatic exercises to alleviate symptoms of distress.

What was your path to becoming a therapist?

Being highly sensitive can be a blessing and a curse. I consider myself lucky to have been able to channel this deep empathy for others into the work I do today. My background is in working in the areas of older adults, hospice, chronic illness, and disability, which has been expanded by doing clinical work for the past several years. I love working with individuals in transition in their lives and helping them find their voices. Overcoming generational traumas and healing the inner child is monumental and it feels very rewarding to be able to walk alongside my clients on those journeys.

What should someone know about working with you?

I expect therapy to be a group effort, and I aim to serve the client each step of the way. This means homework for those who need more structure and verbal guidance for those who do not. We will try many different coping strategies and exercises to see what works best and build your toolbox. Progress is a conversation about how things are evolving as well as ongoing screenings for symptom management.

What do you do to continue learning and building competencies as a provider?

I participate in CEU training, coursework, and ongoing peer supervision to make sure I am always evolving my practice.

How do your own core values shape your approach to therapy?

I believe in finding one's truth, including challenging societal standards when needed and understanding the intersectionality of life. I am a humanist, feminist, and antiracist, and I believe in the sovereignty of individual expression and the pursuit of one's unique path toward happiness.

Nicole Terry, MSW, LSW

Therapist

We all accrue wounds in the course of living. Finding the right therapist is the best way to find help to heal wounds. To support those who seek change, particularly in relationships, I take an authentic, non-judgmental approach that is free of trend-driven techniques. By providing a safe and respectful space that values and nourishes the healing process, clients can expect non-pathologized care. Given that conflict comes in many forms, my therapeutic approach is equally personalized to each individual's needs.

I work well with people who appreciate a confidential and integrative approach that is pragmatic and tailored to unique experiences. I assist individuals who are looking to learn new strategies to heal emotional bonds in order to feel safe, secure, and connected - I partner with clients who want to make positive changes in their lives.

I believe in the inherent worth of every human being. I see this worth in each of my clients and believe the therapeutic relationship we build is paramount. You can expect a safe, welcoming, and warm environment in our sessions. I hope our work together will help you better understand yourself and your behaviors, practice more self-kindness, and feel more empowered. Together, we will partner as a team in your journey toward healing. My practice is grounded in a person-centered and strengths-based approach with elements of CBT, DBT, ACT, self-compassion work, somatic experiences, motivational interviewing, and mindfulness exercises. I have five years of experience working with teens in a school setting and additional internship experience in an adult substance use treatment facility. I specialize in topics of anxiety, depression, self-worth, perfectionism, and self-compassion. I find value in learning about each client’s worldviews, beliefs, and cultural practices. I am a white, cisgender woman who honors the opportunity to deeply get to know you and your story. I am excited to work with you and support you in your mental health journey.

Djonide Walton, M.A., LAC

Therapist

I believe that your difficult circumstances do not have to define who you are or what you can achieve in life. You still have the potential to accomplish wonderful things and be in charge of how you choose to define yourself. I strive to create a safe and non-judgmental space where my
clients can freely express their feelings and thoughts. I utilize a person-centered approach with my clients, offering unconditional positive regard, empathy, and authenticity. I also utilize elements of CBT, DBT, and mindfulness, which help clients become more aware of their thoughts and emotions while learning to stay present. I tailor my approaches to meet each client’s unique needs. A few of my treatment focus areas include anxiety, depression, self-esteem, and
stress management. I am interested in understanding your experiences and perceptions as we work together to harness your inner strength for personal growth and change. My goal is to guide, empower, and inspire hope throughout your therapeutic journey. I look forward to
building a therapeutic rapport with you and supporting you as you heal and evolve into the best
version of yourself.
